The International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) invites all stakeholders to join its webinar discussing the critical role that complying with ethics standards, including on independence, play in ensuring reliable and trustworthy sustainability information.

Webinar participants will have an opportunity to listen to, and participate in, a live-streamed conversation with IESBA Chair, Gabriela Figueiredo Dias; IESBA Sustainability Working Group Chair and UK Financial Reporting Council Executive Director, Mark Babington, and a representative of the UK Financial Conduct Authority.

This is a unique opportunity to hear insights about the applicability of the International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (including International Independence Standards) (the Code) to the preparation and presentation of sustainability information and the provision of assurance thereon. Among other matters, the speakers will share their views on:

  • The changing landscape of corporate reporting, including shifting investor expectations and heightened demands for sustainability data.
  • The ethical implications and expectations when individuals other than professional accountants are involved in the production, reporting, and assuring of sustainability information.
  • Overcoming the issue of misrepresentation in sustainability reporting (especially “greenwashing”).

Following a moderated conversation, webinar participants will have an opportunity to ask questions. Stakeholders can submit questions in advance via communications@ethicsboard.org.
